Catching Bass In Cold Water

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Charles White When I talk cold water, I am talking about water 50 degress or less. The bass don’t quit eating at this temperature but one thing is for sure, they slow down. As the water temps fall so is the chance that a bass will chase a bait for a meal. When the water temperature gets in the 40’s, your bait has to be right in front of the bass and they have to almost be forced fed just to get them to take the bait. This is when you might want to put those big lures away and offer them something small. So, what kind of lure are you going to use? How about small hair jigs and soft plastic grubs? These imitate cold water pray in cold water. Deer hair is hollow and allows the jig to fall slower. These do good in the rocks and bluffs where water is at least 10 feet deep. If the water is less than 50 degrees try these jigs with a little piece of pork. Here’s the deal, when fishing these lures in cold water, the bass aren’t going to chase it. So cast, let it drop and bring it along the bottom very slowly for 10-12 feet then reel it in for another cast. The pick-up of the little lure will probably be subtle. Everyone seems to like dark colored jigs but if the water is clear or the bass’ main food is shad then try a white hair jig. If the bass are feeding on crayfish mainly in the summer then try a brown or drab green color in cold water. Also, remember this, rocks radiate the sun warmth. Fishing rocks with these jigs can be deadly. Some other good material to use for jigs is badger, rabbit, coyote and squirrel hair. Light to medium light rods are good for fishing jigs and grubs. Line 4-6 pounds seem to be the thing but if fishing a lock of rocks then you can go to 10 pound test line. Just remember to fish slow, don’t think the bass are going to chase your bait very far, if at all and leave the bait in front of them longer than you normally would. Try fishing with hair jigs and small grubs, it may just surprise you. Good Fishing To You. Charles E. White has fished 50 years for bass from California to Florida. In his lifetime, it is estimated that he has caught over 6,000 bass. His biggest bass is a 12 pound 14 ounce that hangs on his wall in his office. His tips and techniques have helped many people who have never fished for bass before become successful anglers. He also has fished with the Pros in Florida. His website is at:http://www.bassfishingweekly.com/track/tracker.cgi?freecontent Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Charles_White http://EzineArticles.com/?Catching-Bass-In-Cold-Water&id=119641 ambien prescription purchase without valium ativan difference ambien line ambien over dose

Mercury and Aluminum Present in Flu Shots?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Patsy_Hamilton] Patsy Hamilton Many people, including some health care practitioners are concerned about mercury and aluminum present in flu shots. This is not a new concern for those who are against flu shots, but it is relevant as the flu season approaches. The major concern about mercury and aluminum present in flu shots arises from concerns about Alzheimer’s and autism. Even among those people who are not against flu shots, some are against mercury and aluminum present in flu shots. Recently, New York State passed a law banning the preservative thimerosal from flu shots and other vaccines meant for children and pregnant women. Thimerosal is mercury based and is known to cause allergic reactions in many people. On top of that, mercury is a known neurotoxin, meaning that it damages nerve cells, and has been linked to autism. New York State is not against flu shots. In recent years, New York City and other areas of New York have had problems obtaining enough flu vaccine for high risk citizens. The ban came after several studies linked an increase in cases of autism (a condition which is first noted in childhood and is characterized by deficits in communication and social interaction as well as language and learning impairments) to vaccines and flu shots containing thimerosal. Some health care professionals still maintain that the risk of complications from the flu are greater than the risks that may be associated with mercury and aluminum present in flu shots. Some people are against flu shots, in general, because they or someone close to them had a reaction to the flu shot. Sometimes it is a mild reaction, such as a mild case of the flu. Sometimes it is a more serious condition that may be due to mercury and aluminum present in flu shots. Several people blame the onset of their Chronic Fatigue Syndrome on mercury and aluminum present in flu shots. It is important to note that these cases are rare. While complications arising form the flu, particularly pneumonia, caused over 60,000 deaths in 2003 in the United States, there were only a few reported cases of complications arising from the flu shot and none of those were life threatening. People who are against flu shots in general focus on the rare, but severe reactions to the vaccine and on the [http://www.immune-system-booster-guide.com] mercury and aluminum present in flu shots. Ladies, Stop Being a Stumbling Block

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Robert Wagner There are reasons we are to avoid the appearance of evil. It not only to keep from looking un-Christ like to the world; but ladies it also prevents us from sending bad signals. This may be a touchy subject for many, but it needs to be addressed. There are way too many women who dress as though they have other people on their mind rather than the things of God, (Matt. 16:23) especially in church. Improper attire may cause certain men to take their eyes off of God and put them on you, and it can possibly cause those who are weak and not able to turn their head to lust and when those things happen it not only causes the men to sin but it makes the woman a stumbling block. You know when you look in the mirror how you look, you know how much skin is showing and how tight your clothing is. What you may not realize is the depth of what you are doing when you dress so provocatively. There is a great difference in dressing to look good and dressing to look attractive. Looking attractive is to dress in such a way as to be a magnet and attract the eyes of others, looking good is when others take the time time to look at you, they see a well dressed person. Can you see the difference? One way pulls eyes toward you and the other is after their eyes come in contact with you. Here is a tip; dont dress like you want to give it away or sell it if it isnt free or for sale.Jesus said we will have stumbling blocks placed before us, but woe to him who the stumbling block comes from. (Matt.18:7) He also said that if a man looks at a woman with lust in his heart, he has already committed adultery. So if you are dressing in a way that is causing men to lust after you; young lady you are a stumbling block and Jesus said Woe to you. You are a stumbling block if your shirt is cut too low revealing too much breast or you wear no bra and the shirt is so thin it is almost see through. You are a stumbling block if your pants look like they are painted on and men can see every crease and fold of your skin. You are a stumbling block if your skirt is so short you have to keep pulling it down and you are a stumbling block if you wear your pants so low that men can see your thong or that tattoo you placed on the small of you back that yells Look at me to everyone. Ladies, I am not trying to be one sided and if seeing young men holding onto their granddads pants to keep them from falling down, and seeing their boxers hanging out Turns You on, I will address that in my next letter. I am however tired of men taking all the wrap when the ladies know how weak some men are and they also know exactly what they are doing when they dress and act the way they do.You can cause married men to take their eyes off their wife, and you can be pushing passion buttons in single men causing them to seek a sinful relationship. Yes the men will pay for their weakness, but dont you forget girls, the stumbling block will pay as well.I use that phrase “Forgive them Father they know not what they do” one time with people before I explain what they do. Ladies, if you just read that statement, you now know exactly what you do. Please dress appropriately. If you have self esteem issues and feel that the only way to get someone to pay attention to you is by flaunting your body, please seek council. Talk with your pastor AND his wife or another godly woman. Matthew 16:23Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” Matthew 18:7″Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes! How to Make Environmentally Friendly Newborn, New Baby or Baby Gift Baskets

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

By Helen Hecker Giving an eco-friendly or environmentally friendly newborn baby, new baby or baby gift basket is a great way to help the environment. Whether you buy an eco-friendly gift basket from a gift basket business, make it cheaply yourself at home or add it to an existing line for your gift basket business, the environment will be better off for it. Think recycled paper (100% post-consumer, waste/process, chlorine-free), organic products, vegan products, non-toxic and non-plastic items, natural fibers, reusing and recycling. Just use these simple tips and follow these easy instructions and youll learn how to make a great, unique, custom, personalized baby gift basket. First of all youll need to decide whether youll be using organic or vegan items or products, fair-trade products like soaps, items of clothing like new socks made from recycled cotton, or pre-packaged, homemade or recyclable used items. You probably wont want to use any fragrant food items if youre using any scented products. The fragrances of food and perfume dont combine well in a gift basket. But use your best judgment. Also you may have some other ideas for making your basket more of a personal memory gift. Next decide on what products or items will go into the environmentally friendly newborn baby, new baby or baby gift basket. For an organic, vegan or all natural baby gift basket some products and ideas are: organic baby foods, organic teething chews, all natural or organic baby lotions, organic shampoos, organic baby powders, other organic bath products, organic, vegan and fair-trade soaps, natural fiber sponges, organic cotton towels, terry cloth bath pillows, natural spa pillows, natural hair brushes, socks and other clothing made of organic cotton, CDs of nature sounds or other soothing music, baby toys made with natural fiber and/or safe recycled material, wooden blocks, safe, non-toxic baby games, personal memory gift items, or a no-expiration gift certificate to a store that specializes in environmentally friendly items. Now that youve decided on what products or items to use its time to put your personalized environmentally friendly gift basket together. For gift container ideas: fair-trade baskets, wooden baskets, wooden bowls, fiber baskets, straw baskets, locally made pottery, buckets, potted plant holders, wire baskets, fabric gift bags, homemade gift bags, used baskets and containers from Goodwill Industries and Salvation Army stores or anything recyclable. For gift basket liner ideas: shredded newspaper, shredded comics, organic cotton tea towels, organic cotton dish towels, organic cotton wash cloths, hand towels, or bath towels, colored recyclable napkins, organic cotton cloth napkins, fabric pieces, or an organic cotton receiving blanket. For gift basket filler, if needed, you can use: crumpled or shredded newspaper comics, or use your imagination to come up with a better idea. And for gift basket wrap and tie you can use: recyclable paper, butcher paper, newspaper, newspaper comics, or reusable brown paper bags. Also check with the Salvation Army or Goodwill Industries stores for inexpensive recyclable wrapping paper. Tie with jute or raffia twine for a simple rustic look or leave the gift basket unwrapped. Now the easy instructions for putting your custom, personalized environmentally friendly gift basket together - first start with your custom container. Place the liner inside and add the gift basket filler. Arrange the gift basket products and gift items with the tallest in back. If needed, fill any holes with small baby items or crumpled or shredded recycled paper. Cover with wrap and tie with jute or raffia twine. Dont forget the personalized, recycled or homemade card. If youre using a homemade card include a happy, personal, positive, uplifting, spine-tingling favorite quote or saying. Mom can read it to baby. Thats it! You should have a fine-looking eco-friendly, environmentally friendly newborn baby, new baby or baby gift basket! Skin Treatments

Monday, February 25th, 2008

By Kent Pinkerton Treatments of skin diseases are varied in nature. Dermatologists are specially trained doctors who deal with skin only. The word originated from the Greek work “derma,” which means skin. Since it is the largest organ of our body, it is also prone to a lot of problems. Eternal conditions play a very big part in the cause of skin problems. For skin-related conditions, a dermatologist takes care of diagnosis and treatment, and dermasurgeons perform surgeries, such as skin cancer surgery (including Mohs’ micrographic surgery), laser surgery and photodynamic therapy (PDT). A much sought-after surgery is cosmetic surgery where procedures using botulinum toxin (’Botox’), soft tissue fillers, sclerotherapy and liposuction are undertaken. Cosmetic surgery is advised where the skin has been badly affected by burns and where there are birth defects. In other cases it is used for aesthetic purposes - a big market considering how conscious we are of our physical appearance. The diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases in children is performed by pediatric dermatologists. The diagnosis and management of skin diseases due to an altered immune system, including blistering (bullous) diseases, is taken care of by immunodermatologists. Sexually transmitted diseases are treated by the subspecialty, venereology, and the superficial venous system is dealt with by phlebology. Both these categories come under the expertise of dermatologists. Tumors, whether benign or malignant, also come under their purview. They use various techniques like the scalpel, chemo, electro, cyro surgery, lasers, topical and injection immunotherapy, photodynamic treatments and chemotherapy. Research is an ongoing process and with proper diagnosis there are very few skin problems that cannot be treated. Doctors all over the world believe that prevention is better than the cure and ensure that a patient in their care is cured with minimum pain and stress. An Investment that Inspires

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Joanne Goldman I had no idea how much beauty in my surroundings could inspire greatness in my life until I started collecting Italian Art Deco furniture. But then, with understated elegance, creative design and the unsurpassed quality of Italian masters, how can the beauty of Italian Art Deco furniture not inspire someone to greatness in their life? Italian Art Deco is part of the larger art deco movement of the last century. It tends to be more refined and less opulent than the better known French furnishings from this period. World War II interrupted this trend in Italy and accounts for a smaller production of these styles. As with most mid-century furniture, interest has been on the rise in this millennium. Italian Art Deco furniture can be a great investment, as mid-century modern design is increasingly in demand and should continue through our lifetime and beyond. Aside from the purely aesthetic benefits of Italian Art Deco, there are several intrinsic reasons to become a collector: 1. The Italian designers inspiration, passion and creativity in furniture design can inspire you in your own pursuits. I find myself taking a deep breath as I admire the simple, yet elegant detail of the leg of my Osvaldo Borsani dining chair, flowing gently down to the floor, and turn my thoughts to imagining what Ill create next in my business or home life. 2. Beautiful furniture in your home can help balance or center you much like being out in nature. Nature themes are quite common, as was the use of burled walnut, rosewood and other exotic wood in Italian design of this period. 3. Finding beautiful Italian Art Deco furniture is a self-discovery process that will inspire you to see your own beauty, the beauty in others, as well as remind you of the beauty in the world. I am continually touched by the beauty of these objects in a way that resonates with my soul. Italian Art Deco furniture is accessible to anyone with Internet access thanks to online auction houses and the rising interest in mid-century design. I started collecting one piece at a time, as my budget would allow. I would only buy something if I really loved it and saw beauty in every detail. Six Ways to Start Collecting: 1. Subscribe to Modernism Magazine (www.modernismmagazine.com) and other mid-century publications to educate yourself on this design style. 2. Go to www.wrightauction.com and view past or upcoming 20th Century Italian Design auctions from Chicago-based Wright Auctions. Another auction house is Rago Arts in Lambertville, New Jersey (www.ragoarts.com). 3. Educate yourself on this period. Go to www.amazon.com and search mid-century furniture, a specific designers name, Italian furniture, etc. to familiarize yourself with this period. Although there are books available on Gio Ponti and other designers, many will be in Italian, including books available at Amazon.com. 4. Attend Modernism shows. Upcoming show events across the United States are listed in Modernism magazine (www.modernismmagazine.com) or contact a local art deco society for information. Speaking with dealers who share an affinity for Italian Art Deco is the best way to start educating yourself on this topic. 5. Contact dealers (primarily in large cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and New York) through Google searches. Search their websites and dont hesitate to ask for more information, including additional pictures, certificates of authenticity and furniture condition. In some cases you can buy on approval and just pay shipping if the item isnt satisfactory. 6. Register at the online decorative arts source, www.1stdibs.com. This site has professional dealers from all over the world and you can narrow the search to those dealers in your geographic area. This site screens dealers and has a wide assortment of inventory. If you value quality, elegant detail and design that honors natures materials, youll fall in love with Italian Art Deco furniture. I will never tire of the beauty and richness of my collection, and the financial investment will grow over time. Best of all, these lifelong friends will inspire me to breath, to create and to grow. Preshow Planning Equals Success : 10 Essential Questions You Have To Ask

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

By Susan Friedmann The early bird gets the worm. The same holds true for trade shows — the most successful exhibitors are those who start planning at least 12 months prior to the next event. Exhibiting requires a great deal of time, money, and personnel. Make the most of your resources by utilizing them at the show that best meets your marketing needs. But how do you know what show is right for you? Heres a hint: Its not necessarily the one with the largest ads in the trades or the one that is offering deep-discount exhibit space. Instead, ask yourself these ten questions about the shows youre considering, and youll soon discover which are right for you. 1. How well does this show fit our marketing needs? This is the paramount question. Exhibiting at a show must clearly fit into your marketing strategy. Whether you are planning to launch a new product, expand into a new geographical region, or reach out to reinforce existing consumer relationships, every show should have a well-defined goal that is an integral part of your marketing plan. 2. When is the show? Show timing is crucial. Not only should an event be convenient for you and your staff, it should not be in conflict with other major industry shows or events. While there is a seemingly endless supply of competitors out there, there is only a limited amount of customers. They have to pick and choose what shows theyll want to attend. Dont undermine your chances by exhibiting at a small show that conflicts with the larger event that everybody goes to. 3. Where is the show? Location is everything. Some events purposely locate at destination locations such as Las Vegas or Orlando to entice attendees. There is some validity to this strategy, although you want to watch against the tendency to attend a show because of the amenities nearby. Youre sending a team to sell your products and services, not to visit SeaWorld or gamble the night away. 4. Who comes to this show? A show must attract your target audience. Use attendance data from previous shows to determine what percentage of attendees are likely to be interested in your products and services AND are from your major service areas. Its no good presenting your products to an audience that you cant sell to. 5. Who else will be there? You will want to know which and how many of your competitors will be exhibiting at a particular show. Remember, you need to be visible to be memorable! If you are not in front of the public, and your competitors are, the public will remember your competitors and not you. However, a savvy marketing strategy might be to exhibit at a show that attracts your target audience but is outside of your immediate industry. 6. How successful is the show? While individual success is the responsibility of each exhibitor, there is a great deal that show management can do to ensure a high quality show. Discover what organizers do to promote the show, and take a look at previous shows. Ask for a list of previous exhibitors to contact about the show and ask them for their thoughts. Would they exhibit again? 7. Has someone from my organization actually visited this show? A first-hand perspective from someone who fully understands your marketing goals and objectives can be an invaluable tool. Do they think the show is a good fit? Ask them about show logistics. Did things appear seamless, or were there some rough edges? 8. How much does the show cost? Participating in a show can be expensive. Make your decision only after looking at some real life figures. Add in every expense affiliated with the show, not just registration fees. How much will it cost for items such as signage, graphics, literature, travel, lodging, meals, giveaway items, etc? And, dont forget to calculate your indirect expenses your peoples time away from the office. 9. What kind of help will we get? Ask show organizers about promotional assistance. Are there sponsorship opportunities to raise your companys profile at the event? What types of media are being invited? Also, ask for audience quality information before you decide. Are the attendees the type of attendees you want to meet? 10. What return on investment can be expected from this show? Return on investment will in part depend on what your goals are for any given show. If you are concentrating solely on lead generation, and do not plan to be doing any selling at the show, return on investment will appear to be lower. It may take several weeks, months and even years for those leads to generate sales. However, with that in mind, set a benchmark ROI, or ROO (return on objectives) that your company would like to achieve from participating in the show. Does this mesh with reasonable projections? Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Niall Cinneide Do you have what it takes to land a job doing grant writing? Many people are looking for ways to develop a freelance business, but unless you know what it takes to do so, you might as well stop trying. There are several fields in which you can learn and have many jobs waiting for you. But, in others, you will need to properly be prepared for them before they pass you by. Lemon Law - Mechanics Flat Rate Pay System

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Donald Ladew There is a relationship between the auto repair technician Flat Rate pay system and the incidence of unrepaired Lemon Vehicles. It is more direct than one might think. What is Flat Rate Pay System? Its old-fashioned piecework plain and simple. Imagine picking peaches. Instead of an hourly wage, you get paid a penny a peach. The auto manufacturer establishes fixed times for every conceivable repair. This includes everything from a bulb replacement to installing a new engine. Most dealerships charge between $60 and $70 dollars an hour for warranty repairs. Its in the dealerships contract with the manufacturer that they may only charge for the repair hours provided by the manufacturer. Here are some of the links in this chain of cause and effect: - The modern automobile is computer controlled and complex. - Vehicle computers fail and these software/computer hardware failures appear to be other non-computer components in the vehicle. - Modern diagnostic tools dont isolate faults; they suggest possibilities, areas of vehicle systems that might be at fault. - The technician is rewarded for how fast he or she works, not how well. - The dealership makes good money for warranty and non-warranty repairs. - Quality and customer satisfaction are advertising slogans, not a way of life in the work place. - Quite often poorly trained mechanics cause more trouble than existed in the vehicle before attempted repairs. - The slow technician, whether excellent or not, will barely make a living and certainly receive hard talk from his supervisors. Are all vehicles declared lemons at buyback unrepairable? Probably not. Given these conditions, the chances a faulty vehicle will meet lemon vehicle legal definitions, i.e., four repair attempts during the warranty period, are significantly increased. The Dealership Situation Heres an example of what dealerships consider a bad, bad thing. 1. A car that is still under warranty has a defective transmission. The manufacturer assigns transmission replacement a time to repair of 4.5 hours. At $65/hour for warranty repairs, the dealership gets paid $292.50 by the manufacturer for this warranty repair. (Remember, the manufacturer pays for warranty repairs.) 2. If it takes the dealerships technician 6.75 hours to complete the repair. The dealership must eat 2.25 hours of technician repair time. 3. If the technician takes 3.9 hours to make the repair, the dealer will still charge the manufacturer 4.5 hours, and even though the technician only spent 3.9 actual hours on the job, he will be paid for 4.5 hours. 4. In the first case the service manager at the dealership complains to the technician, “sorry, Joe, the manufacturer reduced repair times again. You know those %^$%^$# arent part of the real world, they dont know how long it takes to make orange juice!” Hes also going to strongly “encourage” the technician to make the repair in less time than that assigned by the manufacturer. It is an unjust system with no redeeming value for the honest technician or the dealership. Whos the big loser? You guessed it, the customer. All the players in this game have very different viewpoints. Lets review them. Manufacturer The manufacturer screams about being ripped off by the dealership for inflating warranty repair hours, and that the dealership is doing unnecessary warranty repairs. Both accusations are probably correct, but not necessarily for the reasons suggested by the manufacturer. Dealership The dealership moans and groans about how unfairly the manufacturer establishes and even reduces the hours allowed for each warranty repair. They also claim they have no say in how the hours were established in the first place. Both of these accusations are entirely correct. Manufacturers also have a policy of not paying for repeated warranty repairs to fix the same malfunction. How does the dealership respond to this? Its not good. If the dealership sees a repeat problem, they must somehow make it appear to be different that the original malfunction. Charitably, this can lead to untruthfully describing a problem on the repair order. Remember, four repair attempts for the same problem is one of the criteria that defines what is and is not a lemon. Wheres the incentive to do honest, quality work? Mechanic The immediate effect of manufacturers cutting the flat rate (piece work) times is a reduction in the mechanics paycheck. In order to maintain the same pay rate the mechanic must work that much faster. Faster is not consistent with quality repairs, quite the contrary. At the same time the manufacturer is demanding higher quality repairs. Its a Catch 22 wherein everyone loses. Add to this inadequate training at best and one has a recipe for the Lemon connection. Consumer The consumer has no idea about the complex business relationships that exist between manufacturers and dealers, nor do they have any interest. Why should they? The consumers needs are quite simple. Sell me a car for a decent price that does what the advertisements say it will. If it needs a repair, have someone competent and well trained do the work and for Petes sake get it right the first time. Final Thoughts Theres something seriously wrong with the system. Its a system that rewards all the wrong things. Like many such systems in other parts of American business, this system rewards quantity, not quality. There seems to be an inherent inability among business managers to draw a connection between quality and business success. The manufacturer sets up quality rewards systems, such as Fords Blue Oval, then turn around and cut the work/task hours arbitrarily, probably to allow a senior executive to look good by improving the bottom line of a quarterly report. The result is an immediate drop in quality work at the dealership. There are so many contentious viewpoints, and so little willingness among the players to correct the situation. I wish I could offer some hope to consumers that efforts are being made to resolve this situation, but I havent seen any such evidence. Perhaps this essay will at least bring some sense to a nonsensical mess.
